Last Saturday, CASP (The Cannabis & Social Policy Center) put on the 3rd annual Terpestival in Seattle down in SODO. – with the help of the wonderful Lara Kaminsky and a growing rank of helpers and sponsors of this most worthy non-profit.
Flower samples and concentrate samples were evaluated using a combination of the levels of key Terpenes (quantified by the more-ISO-certified-than-most Medicine Creek Analytics) and the subjective ratings of quality by a panel of knowledgeable judges (flavor/taste/effect-type quality).
A number of awards were given in various categories (including a judge’s favorite) and, ultimately, 4 companies won 1 or more of the awards for flower and 4 companies won 1 or more of the awards for concentrates. The winning companies were:

As a convenience and service to those in search of* some of the bestest smelling and bestest tasting and bestest feeling bundles of terpenes around (in either flower or concentrate form), I have produced the following two lists of stores that, during the 3 months ending April, bought a disproportionate share of their flower (or concentrate) from farms (or processors) that won at least one of the Terpestival awards for that category.
I’ve sorted the lists by store name within city within county (all alphabetically) to better help you locate those particularly Terpy Retail Access Points that are convenient to you.
Methodologically, I included all stores that met two criteria:
-the percent of flower (or concentrate) that they purchased between Feb and April of this year which was grown by any of the 4 listed winning farms was at least the average for all stores that bought from Winners, statewide.
-then, I excluded all stores below a certain dollar level of purchases over the most recent quarter (the cutoffs I used were $5,000 for flower and $3,600 for concentrates).
My apologies to the smaller stores that may have been excluded by these constraints, but I truly wanted to ensure that folks looking for a winning farms’ flower or a winning processors’ concentrate would be more likely to find something from at least one of the winning operators if they choose to pay a visit to the shops listed. The data I used are a little dated (they are the most recent I have, though), and it is always possible that purchasing patterns by the stores change over time.
Also, I included ALL flower (or concentrates) produced by the winning operators — not just their winning strains.
It is my assumption that, if a wholesaler is good enough to grow one strain or produce one concentrate that is capable of smoking/bubbling to the top of the heap in the Terpestival, then their flowers (or concentrates) are likely worth checking out.
Two lists:
Flower contains 65 stores that, in aggregate, purchased 20.3% of ALL flower purchased by retailers during the current quarter. These same stores accounted for 59.4% of the flower sold to retail by the Terpestival winning farms.
Concentrates contains 64 stores that, in aggregate, purchased 16.4% of ALL concentrates purchased by retailers during the current quarter. These same stores accounted for 73.1% of the concentrates sold to retail by the Terpestival winning processors.

*Remember that Cannabis and many cannabinoid-containing products are illegal both at the Federal level and if any one of a virtually innumerable number of mistakes is made, at the State level (such as sharing with one’s spouse was earlier this year or carrying 100 grams in your backpack still is today … unless it is a secure sight-obstructed lockable backpack being used in the fully manifested transport of product within the constraints of the LCB Traceability System).
